Description

"I'm upset
Happiness is not a fish
That you can catch
Imagination can't resist
The laziness
That pins you down, get on your knees
Everyone you meet
Is feeling useless and ashamed

Bored again by happiness
And all those friends I've lost in"

Our Lady Peace - "Happiness & The Fish"

*****

August 2009.

Something totally different. So different, that it was actually taken with my cell phone. :B

And now you ask: What is this?
These 'faces' are a bunch of those cups for you to put your toothbrush and toothpaste.
I found this at a home supply store, and from the moment I saw it, I knew I had to get a shot of it even if it had to be with the cell phone. :P

Might move it to scraps after a few days.

This probably isn't the best photo to write a Critique about since it was shot with a cell phone and probably in a hurry but it still strikes a chord with me so I decided to go for it!

I'm going to use a technique used by Stewie Griffin wich is the compliment sandwich (I say somethin' I like, the somethin' I don't than somethi' good again.)
Yes I'm acting like a cartoon character, nothin' wrong with that...

- First off, I really like the subject. It gives off a good vibe and I really like that.

- Unfortunately, as engaging as the photo might be it's not terribly original in its subject matter, although...

- The composition is obviously very well achieved (only has a minor flaw in the upper left corner where it shows the legs of the shelve those things are sitting on)

- The lighting differences in the scene are kind of distracting; some of the faces appear very bright and others and others are clearly darker. It's no really important and I understand that at that time you couldn't control the lighting conditions.

- The depth of field is really good for this sort of shot and very pleasing to the eye, at least for me

- The las problem, again, is something very minor... the last vertical row of faces on the right is not aligned the with the main body of faces the way they are within that group. Although again I understand that you couldn't move them, one good thing about this disposition is that you can see that the faces have some height to them.

- Finally, I really like the B&W conversion you did, at first I thought I'd like to see a more contrasted version, but this would make the shadows darker an ultimately there would be less detail inside the mouths, so you made a very good choice leaving it like this!

well, that's it... hope this Critique was easy to understand and most of all, that i was helpful!
